INTRODUCTORY FILM PROGRESS UPDATE: TITLE CHANGED;
SIMULTANEOUS ENGLISH/SPANISH RELEASE PLANNED

"Who Say You That I Am?" is now the official title for the feature length introduction to The Urantia Book based on the repercussions of Michael's bestowal. The challenge is to produce an introductory film that transforms a great deal of historical and technical information into a compelling and engaging narrative. The solution chosen is to construct the film around the spiritual experience of a number of individuals whose lives have been impacted by the bestowal and who, in turn, have influenced the continuing unfolding of those repercussions.  read more

A $1,000 MATCHING FUND KICKS OFF OUR GIVING TUESDAY FUNDRAISER!

A much appreciated donor will match contributions up to $1,000 for our Giving Tuesday request for help.

Urantia Book Films needs to raise an additional $20,000 by the middle of 2020 to complete film production and continue our ongoing media dissemination effort online and in Latin America. By far our greatest expense is in purchasing rights to archival and other existing footage to supplement our own video and photographic work—but it's far less expensive than fielding a camera crew.

Sufficient funding will allow us to plan for a near simultaneous release in both Spanish and English. It also will enable us to hire professionals for key production tasks.

Beyond film production costs there will be distribution costs. A contribution of two thousand dollars earmarked for distribution has already been received but we will need more by late 2020 or early 2021. Please contribute what you can now--and please consider a two year Auto Debit. You can specify an amount and time period on our contribution page.

INTRODUCTORY FILM PROGRESS UPDATE continued from above

Reviewing the spirit-led lives of individuals from the times of Plato and Philo, to Albert Schweitzer and Paula Fredriksen in the 20th century, the film provides an overview of the culture evolving from the fourth epochal revelation--a religious culture providing the conceptual context from which the fifth epochal revelation has been constructed.

If your spiritual life has a focus on the work of the kingdom, this film is about your heritage, your people, your culture--a spiritual culture embracing the personal strivings of countless men and women working over two thousand years to respond to the Master's commission to take the good news about his kingdom and the love of the Father to all the world.

One of the primary purposes of the film is to encourage more engagement on the part of readers with the dissemination imperative. The narrative is intended to foster identity with those who have gone before us in the task of kingdom building and planetary rehabilitation. It is an attempt to highlight the privileges and responsibilities of cosmic citizenship on a primitive planet in a dynamic stage of evolution. In addition it will provide an introduction to The Urantia Book in a context familiar to contemporary religionists.

This introduction to the revelation is being produced following a widely accepted media guideline: If you want to communicate something new to people, make sure that 80% of what you tell them consists of things they already know and which are generally accepted as true. This introductory film may forever change the way in which The Urantia Book is viewed.

Primary resources from The Urantia Book from which the script is being developed include:

Paper 21, The Paradise Creator Sons

A near-simultaneous release in both Spanish and English currently is being projected for late in 2020.   return

40 COMMERCIAL THEATER SHOWINGS continued from above

Agustin Arellano, through his civil association (equivalent in Mexico of a U.S. non-profit foundation), Grupo Orvontón, puts up contract deposits which range from $300 to $600 in order to guarantee a minimum number of ticket sales. Audiences of up to 400 persons have been reported. Negotiations are currently taking place to secure the Cinemex Plaza Millenium in Guadalajara adjacent to the Guadalajara Book Fair, November 24 through December 2 this year.

Venues which have had showings include San Salvador in El Salvador; Guatemala City; San José, Costa Rica; Guayaquil, Ecuador; Ciudad de México; Culiacán; Mazatlán; Monterrey; Hermosillo; Mérida, Yucatan; Cancun, and more. Copies of El libro de Urantia are raffled after showings.

DVDs are an additional mode of dissemination. They are the go-to choice for video distribution in Latin America because of limited Internet access and bandwidth. There are now some 8,000 DVDs of Re-Imaginando in Spanish with Portuguese subtitles in distribution. There is no copy protection on the DVDs and users are encouraged to make copies and share them, which makes an accurate usage estimate impossible; but it likely is much greater than the actual number of known physical disks distributed.

This is another place where your contributions are essential. We currently need to do another production run of 1,000 DVDs. The cost of production and shipping for one DVD is about $1.75.  return
